2000 Santa Clara Valley
Once one of California ’s prominent winegrowing regions, years of urban
expansion forced many growers out of the Santa Clara Valley.Fine vineyards
remain however,in the foothills of our Santa Cruz Mountains where this wine
was born.We begin with small, open top fermentations, emphasize gentle
handling, and bottle without fining or filtration. This wine exhibits forward dark
cherry and berry tinged with hints of ripe loganberry.Rosemary, pepper and
cedar accent the fruit without overpowering it,and the palate is rich and supple
with ample gut balanced tannins. While drinking well now, this wine should
reward aging for a few years in a proper cellar.
