2000 Carneros - Truchard
This wine follows in the footsteps of our very successful 1999 bottling from the
Truchard vineyard,and if anything sets the standard for quality higher still.The
2000 vintage gave us ideal ripening conditions without waves of heat pushing
sugars up faster than flavors in the grape could mature.The resulting wine
displays rich dark cherry aromas accented with notes of violets and spice,
supported by toast and faint smoke from the barrel.In the mouth the wine is
beautifully integrated,with oak supporting rather than dominating,and fruit
lingering well into the finish.With a combination of balance,suppleness,and
concentrated fruit flavors,this wine should age gracefully for the next five years.
