2001 Sonoma Coast-Saignee
With this lovely wine we took advantage of an opportunity to expand our
horizons with pinot noir. Two of our vineyards in Sonoma Coast region this year
yielded fruit with larger than normal berries but very nice flavors. We chose to
remove a portion of the juice from the tanks prior to fermentation. We kept this
apart, gave it a cool fermentation of its own,and this wine is the result. With
delicate floral aromas underscored by a hint of toastiness, and a palate that is
crisp and light, this is a blush wine that can happily accompany seafood, cheese
plates or light pasta dishes. We produced fewer than 200 cases, which are ready
to drink right now.
